Fiber Optic Kill Switch

EDR-107P PROGRAMMABLE Fiber Optic Kill Switch System

The EDR-107 Fiber Optic Kill Switch System allows you to stop a gasoline engine from your Tx with absolutely no possibility of interference getting into the radio.

IMAA rules state that you must be able to positively stop your engine from your Tx. Some gas engines are reluctant to stop by simply closing the throttle. Also, in case of a throttle servo failure, a simple flip of the Aux switch on the Tx, and you can bring your airplane safely home instead of limping around in the sky waiting for the fuel to run out, hopefully before the Rx battery does!

 

EDR-107 Schematic

The EDR-107P works with electronic (battery) ignition systems, e.g., CH Electronics, DA, 3W, SPE, 3MM, etc.

  • E-Z Installation! Just plug in-between Ignition System and Battery.
  • Positive Engine Kill from the transmitter.
  • Plastic Fiber Optic Link between Rx and Kill Switch - Absolutely NO RF Interference!

The EDR-1070P Fiber Optic Sender unit plugs into an Aux. channel on your Rx, and the EDR-1071 Fiber Optic Kill Switch plugs in between your existing electronic ignition battery and the ignition system, in-line with the existing manual On/Off switch. The EDR-1070P communicates with the EDR-1071 thru a plastic optical fiber, which ensures no ignition noise can get into your radio! When the Aux switch on your Tx is On, the EDR-1070P commands the EDR-1071 to switch on your ignition. If the Aux switch on the Tx is Off, the ignition is Off. If the Rx is switched off, the ignition is AUTOMATICALLY switched off.
